If your referring to high school. We go to school Monday to friday. Most schools start at 9.00am and end at about 3.30pm There is a dinner break at 12.30pm for about 45 mintues and a morning break at 10.30 for 30 mins. There will be about either 8, 45min lessons per day or 5 hour-long lessons. xxx

Sophie's information simply isn't true for more than her own school or area. It's different everywhere. My daughter starts at 8.40, finishes at 3.50, and has 7 lessons a day, for instance. My son who is younger starts at 8.45, finishes at 3, and has 4 lessons a day. You need to be much more specific about what you want to know.

Our schools aren't the same... We don't have elementary. We have pre-school, primary, secondary, (6th form or college after) and university. We also don't have grades. We have years. it goes from primary: Reception, yr 1, yr 2, yr 3, 4, 5, 6. Secondary: yr 7, 8 , 9,10,11. Then 6th form is yrs 12 and 13 then i don't understand the rest(even though I'm from the uk) But yeah I personally like schools down in the South-West(where I live) I love my secondary school and my primary school i used to go to. basically primary is from the age of 4(?) to 11... then secondary is from 11 to 15/16 (dependin on birthday) Then 6th form is from 16(?) to 18... Then uni. Basically the schools I like are all in South-West England mostly because they are smaller and I have found (after living in London and I'm not sayin all London schools are like the one i went to) that schools up in London are harder to control bullying because the schools are so big. I no this isn't the most helpful but i like Sir Robert Gefferys Primary in Landrake, Cornwall as a primary and Saltash Community School as a Secondary(my old one).

First of all, let me point out that my answer relates to English education, not UK education. Scotland has a completely separate system, and although Wales uses the same National Curriculum as England, they don't have the same education system. Anyway... It depends on what you base it on. The only way to judge is based on SAT results (the tests 11 year olds take in Maths, English and Science). A lot of schools push and push to get their children to achieve level 5 in their SATS, so that the school is higher up the league tables. The school I'm currently teaching in has been classed as a Grade 1 by Ofsted (Her Majesty's Inspectors) and achieves a very high percentage of level 5s, but in my opinion, the school is quite poor. It's more focused on results than on what the children actually understand. There's more info here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/7129438.stm This site lists the best 205 primary schools in England, but honestly, league tables mean nothing. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/7129980.stm
