What are peoples opinions on bringing back corporal punishment in schools? (UK)?
I've noticed this on the news recently and wondered as a student teacher, how people are reacting to this idea. I would like to hear from pupils, teachers, parents/carers and any other objective opinions. Yes? No? Why? Why not? etc. Thanks very much xxxx =D

I disagree with corporal punishment like the cane, as i think there are other ways for discipline without having to be physically hurt. Having said that, i agree that some discipline needs to happen, its that the politicians are not creative enough to think of what. I would have the (male) offender for example dress up in a lady's dress, with make up all day at school. Humiliate them in some way. Its much better! Having said that i think in the UK, we are bound by EU Laws, which is why yuo dont see many of these ideas take shape.

Panic time very soon... Choices?! (UK school)
Panic time very soon... Choices?! (UK school)?
AAAAAAAAHHHHH! >.< we have to do our choices in march! I have to pick four, because I'm not doing a language because I scored 100% A grade from my Polish, Russian and Japanese Language GCSE so they're swaping language (French or German, which I'm crap at both) for another subject ¬.¬ So I want to be a tattoo artist... I'm definitly picking Art and??? HELL KNOWS! help! I don't know what am I supposed to pick, Then I'm definitly picking PSE, so that I have idea of different stuff (I gotta be social for that kind of job, I've seen many people who get tattoos asking artists to talk to them because they're scared) RS, Maths, English+ Science are not on the list unless you want to request a double which I don't because my grades are way above avarage (that's what teachers say) but if that's what you need than I will take them no problem. So which ones do I pick? >.< History D.T. (which one? cooking XD? graphic design, textiles?) ICT Geography ...Music? XD Help?!

If you've got the ones you need for your career covered, how about something you enjoy, or could be useful whilst your low on cash training to be a tattoo artist? (I hear that takes a long time!) I loved history, but I know a lot of people don't. DT could be very useful to you if you do graphic design or even textiles (although you might cover that in art?) as it's a creative and artistic subject that would give you a chance to improve your sketching skills. Cooking is so fun, and well useful for when you move out! ICT is always useful, loads of jobs use computers and I'm sure it would help with business stuff (if you ever wanted to run your own tattoo place?) I always hated Geo, and to be honest unless you really enjoy it it's pretty stressful! Same with music, if you aren't good at it it can be frustrating. Go with something you enjoy, life (and school) is too short to spend your time doing something that's stressful or so boring you dislike it. Have a look at the units/work/topics you cover. Is it something you want to do? Have you done well in that subject before? Do you like the teacher (bad or mean teachers can RUIN a subject for you...)? Good luck picking! If you get really stuck have a chat with your parents and a guidance teacher, they know what you're good at and the guidance staff especially will know what looks good on uni applications (if you want to go) or for going into a creative industry.

Well, I took Business Studies, Photography and Sports Studies... thats irrelevant. So you have 2 already, art and PSHCE. Now The history course is VERY hard... Geography I did the course in yr 9, It is mainly common sense and memory and colourin in and bits of maths. ICT is pointless really, because most of uk can use a computer Music is fun. I would take textiles, because that is graphics too, and it leaves your options at post-16 broader. :)

I know that you said these are off limits but I would pick biology and either English or History. Biology because you will obviously want a good idea of the workings of the human body to give you an edge as a tattoo artist. If you change your mind about the job then English or History will both give you a good academic grounding, plus it's advisable to keep at least one essay subject. Don't close off all of your options with too many art subjects (although it might be tempting) because you may well change your mind and then you're stuck. I do want to point out, though, that A levels are significantly harder than GCSE. An A* in GCSE is roughly a C at AS Level, then a D at the actual A Levels. When I went into my first chemistry AS class (bear in mind that I scored 98% in my GCSE exam for chemistry), he told us that basically everything we learnt at GCSE for that subject was either virtually inaccurate or misleadingly oversimplified. I ended up getting an E in that subject because I just couldn't understand it once they started teaching us the actual science.

Will US employers look favorably on a UK MBA from a US citizen w/ work experience in the US
Will US employers look favorably on a UK MBA from a US citizen w/ work experience in the US?
I am thinking of doing the one Year MBA program in the UK but I want to be sure this degree will be respected in the US and I will be able to find finance related jobs. I am looking at some of the top UK schools w/ triple accreditation.

Yes. Only because people with american MBA's work overseas. General knowledge of american finance and study with european is top notch. Get into currency exchanging. The dollar is gonna collapse soon, CASH IN!

If it's one of the top MBA programs in the UK, then yes, it's fine. It will be recognised here. If possible, try to get into one of the very top ranked schools, so it has a least some name recognition in the States. And - you could consider working in the UK after you graduate, if you wanted to. The UK has a scheme where graduates of certain of its MBA programs (and of certain MBA programs around the world) are eligible to work in the UK for 2 years after they graduate, without much fuss re: obtaining the work visa. It's certainly worth considering, and you'd get some international experience on your resume. And who knows where that could lead you?

best trainers, most success, most value for money, etc. or am i best going over to the states to learn, i only have 5grand ish, thats surely not enough to train, live. plus i can only stay in america for 90 days right? if your from the uk? please help. thanks
