could anyone provide me with detailed description of high school education in the UK please?
Such as the requirements of high school diploma, programs offered; are there AP programs there, or only IB and A level? Thank you AP program is advanced placement program, a series of vigorous courses. It is very popular in the U.S. and can be considered as equivalence of the IB program.

High school in the UK is called college. We have qualifications called : NVQ - National vocational diploma (work based learning, with a recognised qualification at the end of it) A Level - a 2 year long course that is marked as total 70% for your coursework and 30% for a final exam. (coursework being papers and essays written over the course) A/S level - half of a A level essentially, if you only do a year and pass up to certain standard (A-E, F being fail) BTEC - qualifications are undertaken in vocational subjects ranging from Business to Animal Care. They have an equivalence to other qualifications such as the A Level but a particular difference is that they tend to be based on practical work or coursework rather than timed examinations. any qualifications past that are from university. I would be happy advise you on such qualifications

Colleges exist for post-16 study (mainly skill-related), but the majority of UK students choose to stay on at school after 16 to do their A-levels. Some secondary schools (11-18, usually) also offer NVQ courses. A-levels are required for entrance to UK universities. They are offered in a wide range of subjects. Most students take 3 or 4 A-levels, after 2 years of study (from 16 - 18). At 16 students take GCSE exams, in any number of subjects (9 or 10 is most usual for capable students). Their GCSE results determine whether they can take A-levels in a particular subject or, in the case of a student who fails or gains very poor grades in GCSEs, whether they can do A-levels at all. A very, very, very few schools (mainly private) offer the International Baccaleureate. It is not a commonly-taken qualification in the UK. I don't know what you mean by AP.
