School Attendance (UK)

School Attendance (UK)...?
Im 15 years old and im really worried. For 11 months i have been suffering from ingrown toenail and have missed a rough total of 3 1/2 months due to surgery, emergency treatment,etc.. i have a really bad attendance of just 54% and my mum has been spoken to by Educational Welfare people. But she has been calling in to the school, writing letters asking if they can send work to me but nothing. Nobody even told the headmaster what's wrong with me. They think i'm just staying at home without reason. What can happen to my mum/me?

Your mom needs to go to the school and ask to speak to the Headmaster. Not only tell him/her about no one looking after your homework to send it home, after requests, but tell them that is what you want! And that it is serious. your not just staying home for the hell of it. It sucks i know, im 16 and in Canada.. I miss so much school, I have very bad tonsillitis. Causes me to miss so much school, and its such a piss off when people think you are faking it, and don't wanna help you get caught up. That includes teachers. some can be a complete bitch. But good luck! Deffinately get your mom to go to the school and talk some sence into them. bye

What use does US high school credit have in the UK

What use does US high school credit have in the UK?
I did a leadership program in Baltimore in June and i received 65 high school credits as a result, however, I'm from the UK, do they have a use over here?

nope none, you can mention it on a UCAS form but you don't get points, or you could put it on your CV.

after school detention (UK only plz)

after school detention (UK only plz)?
HI. im at secondary school in year 11 and today i had a 2hr after school detention at skool, because i got caught skipping class wiv my mate kaylee. At our skool there is 2 different after skool detentions a C1 or C2. and C1 is for 1hr and C2 for 2hrs. C1 is for not wearing skool uniform or being late.. you only get a C2 if you skip class, or being rude to teachers or smoking on school grounds etc. so thats what i had. It was from 3.30 til 5.30 and we had to write this really long essay and also copy the skool code of conduct, (which hurt my hand from writing lots) i hated it! how long are your detentions after skool? 2hrs is a long time and our skool is quite strict on it. What do you do in detention (write lines or essay etc)? jess xx

Every teacher in my school has a different form of after school detention, usually from 30 minutes to an hour. My science teacher calls it 'X period' and you can't say anything for 30 minutes or else you get another 30. This is for if you are late to class or if you are rude to the teacher. There are also detentions from the principal and vice principal for an hour under most circumstances or on Saturdays for two hours if you are really bad.

i have had 2hrs on weekdays and 4 hrs on saturdays. you're lucky man!

After school detentions are on Tuesdays and Thursdays and are a 30 mins or an hour depending on the offence. There are also saturday detentions, either an hour or two hours. Work set depends on the teacher issuing the detention: I had to do an essay in my after school detention

Eeeeerrr. I wouldn't call it the best school in the UK, but near where I live there a promotion that comes about once a month it's called IPW:UK (International Pro Wrestling UK). I haven't been there yet but I know that they do train there. You should go to there website and see if they come near you. http://www.ipwuk.com/
