Finding out why he is against it would help you to know what kind of information you need to convince him. Is he concerned that you won't get a good education? Is he concerned about the time involved? Is he concerned about you having friends? Is he concerned that you won't be able to go to college? Or does he have some other reason? There are many studies that show the benefits. A homeschooled student can get a better education as long as they have some self motivation. There is more time for you to learn because you are not wasting time waiting for others, lining up, taking roll, waiting for discipline problems to be solved, etc. You are old enough that if you have the motivation your parents can make assignments and/or get you books, programs, curriculums, and/or sign you up for online courses and you will take it from there. There are homeschool groups that have regular activities to give you the opportunity to get to know other homeschoolers. Search for a homeschool association for your state or on yahoogroups or facebook for homeschool groups for your state, city, or area. You may also want to check out http://www.moorefoundation.com/ For information about getting into college http://www.moorefoundation.com/article.php?id=51 I think the book A Thomas Jefferson Education is great because it explains the different types of school systems and the purposes of each.

Hi: It sounds like you are having problems with illness and you should check that out first of all. I think that homeschooling is becoming more accepted and I do know for a fact that there are some great websites. My sister is homeschooling her son and she has told me there are some excellent websites where she gets all her information from. I just quickly checked for you and asked her what website she would recommend. Please have your dad check this out. You might be surprised that if he sees good quality education online that he will agree. Good luck to you, Kim

Try a public online school. My daughter is enrolled in connections academy. They do not have school in every state, but there are other schools like this one. There are public schools, but you learn at home. You would have a teacher to ask questions, and learn everything they do in public school. (but with more options) you would need an adult to help you during the school day. either a parent, or someone who your family trusts. This is not traditional homeschooling, but public school at home.
