After school detention (UK only plz)

After school detention (UK only plz)?
HI. im at secondary school in year 11 and today i had a 2hr after school detention at skool, because i got caught skipping class wiv my mate kaylee. At our skool there is 2 different after skool detentions a C1 or C2. and C1 is for 1hr and C2 for 2hrs. C1 is for not wearing skool uniform or being late.. you only get a C2 if you skip class, or being rude to teachers or smoking on school grounds etc. so thats what i had. It was from 3.30 til 5.30 and we had to write this really long essay and also copy the skool code of conduct, (which hurt my hand from writing lots) i hated it! how long are your detentions after skool? 2hrs is a long time and our skool is quite strict on it. What do you do in detention (write lines or essay etc)? jess xx

I'm homeschooled now cos school sucks lol :P But when i did go to school, detention only lasted 30 minutes and we just had to sit there until the time was up O_O your school sounds really harsh compared to the one i went to... Once i went in without school uniform, just my normal clothes...reason? i didnt like the uniform haha! And i had to spend all my lessons and breaks and stuff in the 'detention room' :-)

Bullying in UK schools compared to US schools

Bullying in UK schools compared to US schools?
I need statistics to back up my point that bullying is more common in US schools because students don't wear uniform, and you get picked on because of what you wear. Whereas in the UK, we wear uniform so you look the same. Any ideas, and sources?

being english i cant comment on this as effectivly but just because we wear school uniform dosnt change alot Kids still bully over silly things, like what shoes you got, or what make bag, how your cloths fit!! the school uniform system is a joke here because childen still wear certain accesories to make it cooler like hats and scarfs and coats its something thats bad everywere and the problem we have is teachers havent got the power to punish anyone to the point where it could actually be stopped!

I'm a sophomore in high school from Northern Virgina ... and to be honest, there is really never any bullying. At least where I live, you either talk to somebody or you don't; you don't pick on them for fun. Nobody gets picked on for how they dress ... sure, some people dress extremely wierdly, but nobody comes out and bullies them to their face.

Yes most likely is but their approach to the problem might be different. It is called international boredom, what we get over here most likely common everywhere. It is an urban problem. What they get over there we get over here. http://www.bullyingintheu.k.com

Not sure of the best, but London College of Communication is a good option for graphic design.

Probably a lot depends on what your SAT/ACT scores are too, and what activities you are in as well as class rank.
2 :
Yeah, I'd even give you early acceptance.

Nobody cares what your extracurriculars are. It's illegal for a UK university to select you based on anything other than suitability for the course. They'll be interested in the community service stuff where it's relevant to your desire to care for people, and the hospital volunteering, and that's it. Um...when are you planning on starting? If it was in 2009, you are already too late, applications for medicine closed at the end of October 2008. If it's 2010, you probably want to look seriously at that chemistry and see if you can pull it up a bit. A UK applicant would be expected to have an A grade in A level chemistry, no ifs or buts. If I understand it right, that's the equivalent of over 90 in an AP course. Edit: I strongly suggest you check whether you will need SATs. I think you are wrong. UK applicants don't need them because they do A levels, but you haven't, and frankly nobody will much care how good you are at classwork, they'll want exam results not marked by your own teacher. Certainly for Oxford, US applicants do - and they have to be SAT II.
