most schools' websites have a link for international students that will tell you stuff like entrance requirements, testing equivalents, and prices... stuff like that. just see if the school you're interested in attending has one, because it is different for every college.
2 :
It's very expensive unless you have scholarships. You can apply for scholarships for each school you apply to. Prices vary from college to college, from $10,000/year up to $50,000/year. That's one good reason to stay in the UK. You can look at "foreign exchange student programs" although all the ones I've heard of are for high schools--not university.

You certainly can. Google for a list of unis that offer Law and their ranking. Then take a look at their criteria, many will actually give you the GPA they require. It is common for American graduates to apply to undergraduate school with senior status meaning that they are waived the first year. Alternatively, you can read Law as a postgrad. I suppose which way you go will depend on what you have studied so far.
2 :
There are a few routes you could take: 1. You *could* do a law degree in the UK, however, law in the UK is an undergraduate degree. After completing your law degree you'd have to take either the BVC or the LPC (another year) and find pupillage or training contract (another year). 2. You could take that GDL (one year conversion course taken by UK graduates in non-law subjects) followed by BVC/LPC & Pupillage/Training Contract. 3. You could qualify in the US, then do and LLM etc in the UK 4. You could qualify in the US practice in the US for a few years and then attempt to do the QLTT (which has some further UK experience requirements). For law degrees and LLMs you'd be looking at universities in the UK, for GDL, LPCs and BVCs you'd be looking at attached or independent law schools like BPP, College of Law, ICLS etc etc

My one boy last year went maybe 2 months the WHOLE year! I was begging them to help me get him to school! They did not care in the least. This kid is a lot bigger then me and if I used cattle prod they would have sent cops to my door. BTW He still is above the other kids this year as far as smarts go, do not get it?? I think he was just testing all of us? Anyhoo this is what happened to us. Whoops just noticed you are in the UK, Sorry we are in small town America....
2 :
I thought questions would already be asked . It would depend on whether the parents notify the school about the child being absent for a number of valid reasons. But if the child is playing truant well then questions may well be asked soon.

I have no idea but I guess its taught briefly with the facts but no long dwelling on the matter. Afterall, its just a blip on a history that spans almost a thousand years.
2 :
That's such a great question! Maybe it's portrayed to make the UK look like victims, and the Americans look like villains. Maybe that's why Europe has a bad taste in its mouth for Americans.
3 :
If you been schooled overseas you'd know you are taught to learn all the histories, cultures, customs and geography's of all global countries. Not just about the country's history that you live in. We are taught, tested and graded about the full history of the USA, not just about the American Revolution which had lasted for eight years is part of Americans history for independance.

It all depends on the University. For example, Cambridge wants A*AA in any of their approved A Levels, whereas Manchester wants AAB excluding General Studies. Think about which Universities you'd like to go to, compare the UK league tables and then check those websites for entrance requirements. An English A Level would be a good choice, among two other 'traditional' A Levels.

Of course, in your country, you have the added concern of guns but I fear the UK is catching up with you. All the best sweetheart and take care.

You can do a 3/4 year straight degree - look out for the ones that say 'with QTS' which is qualified teacher status. Manchester Met in Crewe is a good one to do it with. Or you could do a degree and then do a PGCE for a year. I don't think you have to specialise in anything but you will need a good degree to get on. As well as you A Level results to get onto your degree you will need at least a C at GCSE for English, Science and Maths as you have to take your skills tests in these.

Hi there i need some advice, i am a fourth year at john ogilvie high school (UK) and have been helping the school in events such as: parents night, concerts and other guest related events. i am involved in the school magazine as well as the health committee and participate in most of the events, most of the teachers like me and i am polite and always on time for classes. in your opinion would i be a suitable prefect and would i get picked, if not please say why :) thank you very much

being a school prefect is not easy unless you can bear all the things that will be in your way wisely. I've been school prefect for almost 4 years now and it kinda tiring to me. I've to control the students' discipline, sometimes I've to skip classes in order to help with the school's events and get scolded from teachers and head of prefect. but it's my duty right? you'll gain experiences from this. both academic and co curriculum achievements have to be really creme de la creme. i think that you're very suitable to be one. you always help your teachers & on time for classes. teachers usually love their student to be like you. they can ask for your help anytime and you can make the school proud of you. it depends on your school's disciplinary board. but if you get chosen, give your best to serve the school and be the best prefect ever. remember that being a prefect is not because of popularity but your determination to make your school better in every aspects. all the best(:

Hi there, Nearly all medical school require A levels in Chemistry, along with two out of Maths, Biology and Physics. If you don't have these, at least very good GCSE's in three of these subjects are required. Oxford Medical College also requires a minimum average of 85%. Detailed information on their requirements can be found here: http://www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate_courses/international_students/international_qualifications/index.html The requirements to be accepted into Harvard Medical School are even stricter: Apparently you need at least a Bachelor's degree to be even considered as a prospective student. I wish you good luck anyway :)
2 :
As for Harvard and the rest of the U.S. Medical Schools, you will need a bachelor's degree or equivalent, MCAT scores and complete a pre-med program before you can even be considered for admission into a U.S. Medical school. So it will be quite a few years before you are ready for U.S. Med schools.

What does a US student w/ a bachelor degree & masters degree need to do to get accepted to UK medical schools

What does a US student w/ a bachelor degree & masters degree need to do to get accepted to UK medical schools?
I am college graduate with a Bachelor of science degree in Exercise Sport Science. I also have a Masters degree in Biomedical Sciences. What standardized tests do I need to take to become eligible to apply to UK medical schools? Also, what is the probability that a foreign student will get accepted to UK medical schools? Are the academic curriculums between the United States and UK too different for a US student, with my credentials, to get accepted to UK medical schools? If you are in the U.S, I would rather have you go to the Carribean to get a medical degree. Based on the information you have provide, you do not need any standardized test. However, MCAT will place you on the top of the list. Even if you are not within the U.S, I would highly recommed you to explore medical colleges in the Carreabean Island. The name that strikes out of all is the Ross Medical College. However, there are others that are recognized in the U.S. You will undergo your clinicals and residency in the U.S. I hope this answers your question. Getting accepted in a medical school in U.K without legal residence is very tough and out of reach at times. Shaji
3 :
The admissions requirements for UK school can vary. The authority over all UK med schools is the General Medical Council and in looking for a link to provide you I noted that even the GMC advises you to contact the individual med schools for the admission requirements. The link I provided below is a link to a list of all of the med schools in the UK. I suspect that you will have to have your course work evaluated for equivalency in the UK. You certainly aren't the first student to do this, so I'm certain the appropriate people at the UK schools can assist you in getting this done.

In the uk 7th grade or (12-13 year olds) would be in their 2nd year or 3rd year of secondary school. In schools in England Year Seven is the seventh year after Reception. It is the seventh full year of compulsory education, with children being admitted who are aged 11 on the 1st September in any given academic year. Year Seven is usually the first year of Secondary school. In some areas of England, Year Eight is the eighth year after Reception. It is the eighth full year of compulsory education, with children being admitted who are aged 12 on the 1st September in any given academic year.

If i wanted to become an English teacher in Japan what would be the best way? First i think i should retake a few GCSEs but after that, what should i do? Is it possible to become an English teacher without a degree from a university?

You can teach English without a degree but to be honest you'll be teaching at the very bottom end of the market in the worst schools. And very possibly you'll be teaching illegally because the usual minimum qualifications to teach English are a degree and a TEFL certificate. In Japan specifically, you will need a degree in order to get a work visa. So I would recommend taking a couple more GCSEs and then a degree. You can do the TEFL certificate at any time.

What to put in 'Reasons for applying' section of college application

What to put in 'Reasons for applying' section of college application?
I am in my last year of high school (UK) and I am in the process of applying for sixth form. I have filled in my details on the application website, but i'm stuck on what to put in 'reasons for applying' section. I've wanted to go to this sixth form practically all my life but i can't put it into words. It's asking me for skills, but i've already but those in my personal statement. Any ideas?

Entry requirements for the Kings College London (University Degree) are as follows for students from the USA: You will be considered for entry to our undergraduate programmes if you have taken full-year USA Advanced Placement Tests. Grades required vary from programme to programme, from a score of 4 to 5, with possible subject preferences. As an alternative to this, we also accept the SAT (minimum 1800) or ACT (27-36) with SAT Subjects (SAT-S, minimum 600) for undergraduate programmes within the School of Social Science and Public Policy and the School of Arts and Humanities. For exact grade requirements for your desired degree programme, please go to the programme of interest in the undergraduate prospectus and visit the academic entry requirements section. You will also be considered for entry for undergraduate programmes if you have taken A-levels or the International Baccalaureate. I'm sure this means more to you than it does to me! I'm pretty sure with your high school diploma you would have no problem getting into a 6th form college to do your A Levels if you need them. However, if you meet the above requirements you can go straight into university! Remeber some universities can have stricter entry requirements so you should look around! :) Good Luck and Welcome to the UK!(Once you arrive)

What are the school years like in US? (im moving there next year, i currently live in UK)

What are the school years like in US? (im moving there next year, i currently live in UK)?
Ok, so im 15 and i live in the UK and next year ill be going to America (by then ill be 16 ). Here in the UK you can leave school at 16, is it the same in America? or do u have to stay on abit longer before u can leave? Thanks for the answers guys P.s. Does it differ for each state? if it does im going to Maryland if that helps (Y)

In Indiana, you can leave school at 16, but you wouldn't have a diploma. Not unless you tested out of your remaining classes. You would be in high school until your 18 yrs old. Since you're only 15 going on 16 you would be a sophomore in high school to be exact. Usually in the states you start high school when your 15 and go till your 18. You start out as a freshmen then you become a sophomore, then you become a junior, and then finally you become a senior.
2 :
Are you going before your exams? if so in general you would need to stay in school until 18 in the USA, to get your high school diploma. I would check to see if you need to attend school if you've already do your GCSE in the UK.
3 :
In the US you can legally leave school at 16. However, we differ from the UK in that it's not a common practice to leave at 16. Anyone who does that leaves school without a diploma. You can test for a GED (General Education diploma) if you leave, but I'd recommend that you stay in school after coming to the US. Not only will it give you better opportunities for work and/or university education later in life, it will also give you a good opportunity to meet people your own age and learn about life in the US.

Human Rights in Public Schools, UK.

Human Rights in Public Schools, UK.?
Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me with some queries regarding Human Rights in a public school in the UK. Are teachers allowed to confiscate items off you? Although that ^^ is breaking article one of protocol one. If a teachers is denying access to water then surely that is breaking the right to clean water? Is there on about not being allowed to go to the toilet or something? Please help me... Thanks : ))

Yes, a teacher can confiscate items from you. Yes, a teacher can stop you from drinking in class. A teacher can, if reasonable, refuse permission to go to the toilet. You obviously have a problem with one of your teachers. It is possible that the teacher is being unreasonable but I would suggest that you just buckle down to you work and stop wasting energy on this.

I had to take French and German up until the last 2 years of high school then I had to pick between them. I chose German. But I think it depends on the high school, 95% of the time its usually French and German. Others schools may have other languages.
2 :
yes they are as france is so close to there country
3 :
I HAD to take french for my first two years of high school. then in year 10 we got options were you can choose either french, german or no language. i didnt choose a language( too stressful!!!)
4 :
No they have to take a modern language in the first 2 years but it can be french, german, spanish, or any other language. Students in Wales have to take Welsh in high school

I wanna be British. Can a 17 year old high school graduate immigrate to the UK alone

I wanna be British. Can a 17 year old high school graduate immigrate to the UK alone?
I love you Brits. I love your language, your funny accent, your music. I love the weather in the UK, unending rain and fog. I was born in Israel by mistake, I think :( The problem is, I've checked the UK immigration site and since I don't have a university degree nor work experience it seems like I cannot immigrate. Anyone has a great idea?

Well there is a government imposed quota here in the UK that says a certain % of university applications need to be from abroad. So, finish high school then apply to several UK universities and then you should get citizenship after studying here. And how can you like British Weather? Even British People hate it...
2 :
I think you can, you can live alone in the Uk once your are 16! And when you come go to 6th form get some GCSE's and go t college this will help you, you NEED qualifications.... Also why do you like english music? Whats so unique about it? xxx good luck
3 :
Trust me when I say this- England isn't all that great!!! I live here, and trying to escape. USA is so much better.
4 :
you can only come to Britain to live if you are a black homosexual muslim as that is the only type of people the labour government want living in Britain.
5 :
when you do get your qualifications, we need people like you who appreciate. Ok not everything is perfect, but people seem to forget the simple things like what u said that make this little island great.
6 :
its good you apreciate the brits, get some qualifications, come on over and you can stay here as long as you like.
7 :
You cannot "become British" simply by coming to the UK, that is nonsense put out by Asian subcontinent people who do a Bollywood dance when they get here.In any case we are full of foreign people, real Britain no longer exists
8 :
Get your nose down into your books and study. Get the academic qualifications you need to be able to move. You will need at least a Master's degree so you have a lot of hard work ahead of you. If it's really what you want it won't be so hard as you can keep your goal in mind.

I can't tell you excatly which one to pick, but go for the North-East!!! It may not be the warmest, but it's the least screwed up part of the UK!!!! The prices atm, are soaring high! And the north-east is the cheapest place in the UK!!! I can tell you now that you will have a great time in the UK, because there is so much to offer here. OK, it will be slightly different to America but, you'll get used to it, I did! :D! Don't worry about it, you'll love your new school which ever one you choose, and you'll make loads of new friends! You still have email right? So you can contact your old friends right? Anyway, whichever one you choose, good luck!!! :D!

oh well it depends what you are after/ how clever you are Summerhill is good, very liberal (little L), and i think most people can get in. But not for those who need to be pushed/ are not naturally curious Westminster is very good, but expensive! i reckon £25,000 a year for borders. You need to be clever to get in as well as fairly intellectual. Also its in central london so a fantastic location. but im not sure if they take girls as boarders (i know they take girls in the day school for sixth), but i dont know if they board. Cheltenham is also very good and extremely posh. You may find it a bit prissy and princessy though if you dont go in for that kind of thing. there are others but i cba to tell you all, these are the 3 most famous The thing about the north east, not bad advice there are some good ones there such as Fettes - Blair's old school! Is good aswell. But ye London schools are a more fun if you can afford it.
4 :
http://www.boarding.org.uk/ is the website of the British Boarding Schools' Association http://www.boardingschools.co.uk/ is the UK Boarding Schools' Directory and Guide for 2008 & 2009 http://www.gabbitas.co.uk/index.aspx?p=28 is a site which addresses this very question: picking a UK boarding school when you live overseas. Similarly, http://www.boardingschools.hobsons.com/advice.jsp?id=advice_overseas is an excellent and extensive site which also contains a large section on choosing (and going to) a UK boarding school as an international student. As well as the obvious questions you'll need to ask yourself (single sex or co-ed? Exclusively full boarding or a mix of full boarders, flexi-boarders and day students?), you need to consider what qualifications etc you need/want to do as, in the UK, kids have to make decisions about specialising and starting to study for external (public) exams in some schools as early as the beginning of Year 9, and certainly by the end of year 9 (heaps earlier than you would in America): i) Generally IGCSE courses are considered more academic than GCSEs; ii) Or are you looking to go straight onto A levels (A = Advanced) or AS levels (Advanced Subsidiary...somewhere between GCSEs and A levels); iii) Are you planning on staying at school in the UK until you finish schooling? In which case, would you benefit more from a school that offers A levels, the IB or the Pre-U (Cambridge Pre-University exams) as their school leaving exams? There are also such educational qualifications as BTecs, National Certificates, National Diplomas, National Vocational Qualifications and so on and so on; UK-based (school) qualifications are heaps more complicated than in the US where one can simply choose between a high school diploma and the GED. iv) You'd also need to consider the ethos of the school: are you looking for an academic school? an alternative (or 'free' school? a specialist school?); there is a HUGE difference between a school such as Summerhill and one such as CLC or Queen Ethelburga's or Dauntsey's!! v) Do you have connections in the UK? If you've got family/friends in the UK, you might want to consider finding a school within a couple of hours' travelling time of them - somewhere to retreat to when you're homesick, for the weekend etc. vi) Coming from overseas, you will also need to have a guardian in the UK (a family member, an adult friend, a professional guardian employed by your parents to act as such whilst you're at school) in case of illness/injury/emergencies etc. Some schools impose a limit on the distance at which your guardian can live from the school; I certainly know of several UK boarding schools that impose a 30 mile rule. Hence if you want your UK-based grandparents, for instance, to be your guardians whilst at school, you are likely to find that restricts your choice of schools to those in the immediate area of their address.

Private schools are pretty much always better than their local state-run rivals, and for one simple reason: they get more money than them. Combined school fees of students mean that private schools can afford to hire a better quality of staff, and a higher number in proportion to the number of students. In addition, discipline tends to be much better, due to the ethos of wanting to work - rather than being forced to go for ultimately little gain (as in the case of many of the disillusioned and disruptive students at state schools) even the least able students will have the expectation that the point of school is as preparation for university and ultimately the rest of life.

Your L1 visa was specifically tied to your previous employer. If you quit your job, your L1 became invalid the day you quit. You would need to find a new company to sponsor you if you wanted to return to the US
