Help! Need to contact British police while outside the UK.. possible school shooting!!
Help! Need to contact British police while outside the UK.. possible school shooting!!?
I need an email, website, something. I ran across posts on a picture board websites of a guy claiming he will commit a school shooting in England tomorrow and want to alert the authorites! I certainly hope it's sarcasm, but they gave a school location, time, and photos of themselves masked with guns, and told everyone to check the BBC tomorrow. Better safe than sorry. I sent an email to the authorities.

LGBT: If I major in nursing can I be accepted into law school
LGBT: If I major in nursing can I be accepted into law school?
I know you can get into law school (UK) with different undergraduate majors, such as English & Accounting. But what about nursing? I have a 4.0 high school GPA, and have already earned alot of college credits. I'd hate to be a nurse, but I also know that if I was to be a lawyer I would have to live with my parents longer, or so they claim, to afford law school. Also, nurses are high in demand at the moment so its not one that would leave me jobless. In addition, I hate it here in the US and all my friends live in the UK. I feel so lonely, and my parents control everything about my life. It's come to the point that I've been cutting myself and contemplating suicide. My parents are pretty much forcing me to live with them, and I know I would be a financial wreck if I left. I cant even drive. Please help. I'm asking here, because I'm gay and that is one of the reasons why I want away from my parents - they would not be happy and I would rather come out away from them. Thanks.

I learned from "Legally Blonde" that your undergraduate doesn't necessarily have to be pre-law, but it does help your cause. I looked up the accuracy of the film and apparently it can happen. It's mostly on your grades, GPA, clubs you were active in, and your standardized test scores.

Hi, at the age of nine on the 1st of September, that's what I understood from the chart, I'd expect a child to be starting fifth or fourth grade. But because it is a foreign school system I believe that placement tests might be done and that would effect which grade they'll be put in. Just to give a run down. kindergarten (age 5 by December, I believe.) Grades 1-5 Elementary School (Primary) (5-11) Grades 6-8 Junior High School (11-14) Grades 9-12 High School (Secondary, because in a small school system the Junior high usually gets split between Elementary and High school.) (14-18)

Pre-school or Headstart - Children are not required by law to attend preschool. The purposes of preschool are to 1) introduce children to what it's like to be at school, and 2) provide a place for younger children to be when their parents are at work, particularly for low income families. I believe the age is 4-5, but it might include children that are a little younger. Kindergarten - I believe this grade is also not required by law, but most children start school in kindergarten if they haven't already started. Students enter Kindergarten the September after they turn 5, (some children's parents will hold them back a year if they are born in the summer so they won't be the very youngest in their grade). Grades 1-6: Often called "Grade school". Each new school year students progress one grade. First grade follows Kindergarten, 2nd grade follows 1st grade, etc. These grades usually meet at an Elementary School. Students entering 1st grade are generally 6 years old. When students start their 6th grade year they are usually 11 years old, and they turn 12 either some time during the year or during the summer. However, students that are significantly ahead of their peers may be skipped one or more grades and students that are struggling may be held back one or more years. This is kind of hit-and-miss though because teachers don't want to put students in classes where the other students are significantly more emotionally and physically mature and because teachers are afraid of the stigmas that might be associated with holding a student back. Although students typically have a "home room" in their grade level, they may meet with students in different grade levels for Math and Reading based on how they score on standardized tests. These standardized tests are taken by students at the beginning and ending of every school year and are intended to help the government determine if the schools are doing their jobs, (although in my opinion they are essentially useless). These tests are always multiple choice, and the teacher has to read the instructions for each section aloud to the class. Depending on where you live, after Elementary School you may then go to either a Middle School or a Junior High School. Middle Schools usually include 7th grade and 8th grade. Many middle schools also include 6th grade, (which means that the associated elementary school(s) only include kindergarten - 5th grade). In elementary school you spend most of your day with the same teacher, and even when you leave you have no choice over what you are studying. In Middle School, Junior High School, and High School you can choose what classes you will take, (English, History, Art, Dance, Journalism, Pottery, French, Computer Tech, etc.) However, you do have a certain number of "core" classes you have to take, (in my state you have to take English classes every single semester). Each class typically lasts for a semester which is 1/2 of the school year; however, some classes change on a trimester schedule. Middle school is typically ages 11-15. Junior High Schools usually include 7th through 9th grade. Although 9th grade physically meets at the Junior High School it is still considered part of High School in terms of GPA and the kind of classes you can take and is also known as your Freshman year. Age range is typically 12-15. High Schools are either 9th grade through 12th grade or 10th grade through 12th grade depending on whether it is fed by middle schools or junior high schools. Ninth grade is the Freshman year, 10th grade is also known as Sophomore, 11th is aka Junior, and 12th is aka Senior. The age range is 14 or 15 through 18 years old. High schools are run very similarly to Middle Schools and Junior High Schools except that everything you are doing goes on your permanent record and the variety of classes that are available to you tends to be bigger. Also, in high school you can take classes that may give you college credit, (AP = you get college credit if you get at least a score of 3 out of 5 on the AP test at the end of the year, IB = International Bacceularate which is less common, or even classes that are partnered with a local community college or university and that count the same as if they were taken at that college or university). You can also take classes that will prepare you for a vocation, (graphics, plumbing, travel & tourism, etc.) Each high school has different options available. Also, schools also have extracurricular activities like service clubs, clubs that are organized for fun, learning, or competition, sports teams, and anything else that people can imagine that are not too controversial. These extracurricular activities are a key part of getting into college these days. This is how the public education system is organized. Children can also attend private schools or parents can chose to educate their children at home. Students who are private-schooled or home-schoo

There no specific age limit to enter university, But in Scotland If you complete 5th year in school (age 16) medical schools tend not to consider them and encourage them to go back and take 6th year (age 17) and do some advanced highers. But they may considered in some Unis under exceptional circumstances. :) Hope this helps :) Answer mine? :) : http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ar7K24UG.2lC2W53ZZXYewNJBgx.;_ylv=3?qid=20090808082852AADFvK0

Can high school teachers text their students
Can high school teachers text their students...?
Like at school (high school UK) a math teacher is texting a pupil, and they say it's about their 'dancing' (there was a competition) but they're still texting even though they were put out... is this even allowed? :\ she's 15. Then another teacher (he's friends with the other teacher) is texting another girl, inviting her round to his house, and when someone said they were flirting with eachother (she wasn't, he was) she got upset, and stopped talking to him. He emailed her, and said sorry and stuff, and that he really liked her. How much trouble would they be in if they got found out? The second teacher is one of my teachers too, and he flirts with me and it makes me uncomfortable? :\

I don't think there are any specific laws about teachers texting students, but if they are ordered not to, or if they are having an inappropriate relationship with a student, they can get in trouble.
2 :
This is a serious problem your parents should bring up with the school board. They will investigate and put a stop to it. They will require text messages to prove the teachers are sending them and to prove what they are saying. Also, they'll require copies of the emails. Chances are the teachers could be terminated.
3 :
You should report that. Those are adults. They should have little if any contact with underage students outside of the classroom. If the teacher flirting with you makes you feel uncomfortable you definitely need to report him. You have every right to go to school without feeling infringed on by the teacher. If you're afraid you should drop anonymous notes to school officials. I suggest more than one official because one might blow you off. If more than one get the notes they'll be more inclined to look into the matter. I hope the best for you.
4 :
That's kinda illegal. Everywhere. Doesn't matter what they're texting about. And if those teachers don't stop, say hello to registering as a sex offender. And plz say something so they can at least arrest one teacher for this, and set an example for the other perverted teachers in your school. VIVA LA RAZA!

How much do school books generally cost in the UK
How much do school books generally cost in the UK?
I know this will of course vary depending on the course and the type of text books required, but I was just wondering what the average cost would be? I'm starting school in Liverpool next year to major in English and am in the process of sorting out my finances for when I begin. Any answers are appreciated, thank you very much!

I think it's impossible to give you an average price because it varies so much, but they are expensive. I think you're looking at a minimum of £20 per book, and a likelihood of it being a lot more. Your best bet is to research the most likely books you'd need for your subject at your level, and look them up on amazon. Amazon will probably sell them cheaper than you'll find them in the shops.

Finding out why he is against it would help you to know what kind of information you need to convince him. Is he concerned that you won't get a good education? Is he concerned about the time involved? Is he concerned about you having friends? Is he concerned that you won't be able to go to college? Or does he have some other reason? There are many studies that show the benefits. A homeschooled student can get a better education as long as they have some self motivation. There is more time for you to learn because you are not wasting time waiting for others, lining up, taking roll, waiting for discipline problems to be solved, etc. You are old enough that if you have the motivation your parents can make assignments and/or get you books, programs, curriculums, and/or sign you up for online courses and you will take it from there. There are homeschool groups that have regular activities to give you the opportunity to get to know other homeschoolers. Search for a homeschool association for your state or on yahoogroups or facebook for homeschool groups for your state, city, or area. You may also want to check out http://www.moorefoundation.com/ For information about getting into college http://www.moorefoundation.com/article.php?id=51 I think the book A Thomas Jefferson Education is great because it explains the different types of school systems and the purposes of each.

Hi: It sounds like you are having problems with illness and you should check that out first of all. I think that homeschooling is becoming more accepted and I do know for a fact that there are some great websites. My sister is homeschooling her son and she has told me there are some excellent websites where she gets all her information from. I just quickly checked for you and asked her what website she would recommend. Please have your dad check this out. You might be surprised that if he sees good quality education online that he will agree. Good luck to you, Kim

Try a public online school. My daughter is enrolled in connections academy. They do not have school in every state, but there are other schools like this one. There are public schools, but you learn at home. You would have a teacher to ask questions, and learn everything they do in public school. (but with more options) you would need an adult to help you during the school day. either a parent, or someone who your family trusts. This is not traditional homeschooling, but public school at home.

I just wonder if JK Rowling ever mention in her interviews where Hogwarts is. Well, just curious... I love the books!

NB: Mr Postman: Pllease forward this question to Ms JK Rowling - I'm sure she will be able to answer it . . . And while you're at it, please send similar ones to Messrs. JR Tolkien pertaining to the location of Middle Earth, especially the whereabouts of Hobbitsville, Underhil, Rivendell, etc. Oohh, and don't forget to ask Ms Anne McCaffery the GPS co-ordinates for PERN - I, personally would love to visit that one!!! What? Did you call me a dolt!? Why??!!! Oh: They're ALL figments of overzealous imaginations! Double damnation!!! Oh, well, I've tried my best, SORRY!!!
2 :
Buckingham Palace.
3 :
Per the book, it is suppose to be in Northern England near the Scottish border. The castle used in the movie is in Scotland.
4 :
The Express goes north from King's Cross, which isn't very helpful since almost everything is north of London, but it takes hours and hours to get there. Sirius escapes from Azkaban (somewhere in the North Sea) by swimming, and needs to travel north once he gets to the mainland. So all indications are that it is very far north, probably into Scotland. But I don't think there are any more specific indications.
5 :
I read from K-Zone magazine that it's in Scotland. The "great hall" and " gryffindor common room" were filmed in a former rolls-royce manufacturing plant, its in Scotland also, I think. The "hogwarts" castle is, of course, CGI.

Does My Secondary School Make A Difference To My Future
Does My Secondary School Make A Difference To My Future?
I know with GCSEs and everything it is important, I'm more on about my choise of Secondary School (UK). I'm in year 9 so I've been at my school for 3 years now. And i'm a little worried that It could hold me back in my future, I think this because the school doesn't exactly have the best pupils and results you could want. Plus, My Mam thought I could do better if I went to a better school which she had applied me for, But I told her It wasn't for me and I didn't want to go. So she only opted for me to go to the school I go to now. But now it worries me as I may not do as well as I hope in my GCSEs and A-Levels. Do you think going to this not so good school have stunted my future a little? My teachers think that I could get A*s at GCSE, I've been told this in History and Spanish, However I'm not taking History for GCSE Next year. I'll explain why in extra information if anybody wants. Thanks in advance for any replied :) In in the UK, And I think that our 'Years' are one behind your 'Grades' So I think year 9 is Grade 10? And What other information would you need?

Your future affects you if your in grade 9 or up (doing community service is a must do). I would really say that the hard work should all start in grade 10 for the future. Just work hard and get A's to go to a good high school, I mean it's worth the shot. I know what your going through for most of the part. If you could give me more information, that would be great hope I helped =)

What is the typical food kids in england/the UK eat for lunch in school
What is the typical food kids in england/the UK eat for lunch in school?
Is it like... A chocolate bar and some chips? Because that's what I've heard basically. Anyway I need this information for a school assignment, so if someone could just tell me what's most common to have for lunch?

It is mainly junk food. When I was in secondary school the kids ate burgers, chips, hot dogs, cakes, crisps, chocolate, coke etc. But when I was in primary school the kids got a basic meat and two veg meal with a pudding and custard. I don't think they make them like that anymore.
2 :
No we are much healthier than that! Jesus this isn't America! Since Jamie Oliver (maybe research him) started campaigning against unhealthy food, most schools went healthy. The average food children eat is sandwiches and crisps or pasta.
3 :
me and myy friends eat sanwiches pannis crisp chocolate roll and bacon or sassuage salad pot fried rice curry chips and cheese potatoes and sauce like tikka or tuna mayo we have sanwich shops and a chinies or cafes we are helthyer than most americans aparently good luck

How does the US school grade system work
How does the US school grade system work?
In the UK the school system goes like this: PRIMARY SCHOOL: Nursery- Age 3/4 Reception- Age 4/5 Year 1- Age 5/6 Year 2- Age 6/7 Year 3- Age 7/8 Year 4- Age 8/9 Year 5- Age 9/10 Year 6- Age 10/11 SECONDARY SCHOOL... KNOWN AS HIGH SCHOOL: Year 7- Age 11/12 Year 8- Age 12/13 Year 9- Age 13/14 Year 10- Age 14/15 Year 11- Age 15/16 Year 12- Age 16/17 Year 13- Age 17/18 Years 1-11 are compulsary. Nursery and Reception are the parents choice but practically all children attend, and Years 12 & 13, known as 6th Form, are the students choice. At the end of year 2, 6 and 9 children take exams called SATs to check progress. At the end of year 11 children take GCSE's, a formal qualification. If children choose to stay on to 6th form they take A Level's at the end of year 13, another formal qualification. Can someone please explain to me the equivalent for US students?

PRESCHOOL Pre-school can begin as early as age 2. "Moms and Tots" - age 2 / 3 Preschool - 3/4 Preschool -4/5 *If children have a birthday in the summer months, they are often encouraged to go to a "T-Class" (Transition Class) before they begin Kindergarten. If a child attends the T-Class, his or her age would be a year older than the ages I have on my list below.l ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (Primary School) Kindergarten (or T-Class) 5/6 1st grade- 6/7 2nd grade - 7/8 3rd grade - 8/9 4th grade - 9/10 5th grade - 10/11 MIDDLE SCHOOL 6th grade - 11/12 7th grade - 12/13 8th grade - 13/14 HIGH SCHOOL (Secondary School) 9th grade - 14/15 10th grade 15/16 11th grade 16/17 12th grade 17/18 This is the way the grades are set up in many schools. However, this varies. I teach in a district like the one I described. My own children attend a district which is set up differently. They have elementary school from kindergarten through 4th grade. Then they go to a middle school from grades 5 to 6. Then they attend a different middle school for 7th and 8th grades. Finally, they attend high school for grades 9 through 12. Preschool is not mandatory, but many children attend preschool for at least one year. Most children attend preschool for more than one year. Our children take too many tests in my opinion. They use the tests to check the student's progress, but also to check the progress of the schools. There are different statewide tests. For example, in Pennyslvania, the children take the "PSSA" in grades 3, 4, 5, 8, and 11. They have been adding more grades each year. (They may even be testing more grades than that already.) Once children graduate from high school, many go on to college.

my 5 yr old nephew who has learning difficulties attends a mainstream primary school which has only just come out of special measures by OFSTED he is at last being transferred to a special school which we are all pleased about. My problem being is the headteacher at his current school, my nephew is being called jack the spack, he doesnt understand what this means (thank god) but when my sister complained to the head teacher she said that the children were just rhyming and not to worry about it! i think this is a disgrace, also his class since they started in year 1 has not had the same teacher for more than 3 months max at a time, this was one of the reasons OFSTED had them on special measures in the first place. me and my sis both attended this school and back then it was an excellent school, do u think the headteacher needs to go or are me and my sis just being overprotective i dont think we are , should we complain 2 OFSTED thanks peeps for your help.

The best Acting school in the UK (If not the world) is RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts). It's in London. Thousands of people apply each year and only a handful are accepted, but if you are good enough (and don't just want to be famous to avoid having to work), then go for an audition. You have to be over 18. Once in, they have end of year shows to which agents are invited to spot you for representation. Good luck.
2 :
if you want to be in eastenders go to anna scher's gosh is there anyone on that programme not from there?!
3 :
You can't really say which school is the best, different schools suit different people. I would only advise to apply to accredited schools though. Here is a list: http://sites.stocksphere.com/cds/articles.asp?articleid=15 In my personal opinion the best (for pure Acting) would be (in no particular order): RADA LAMDA Guildhall School of Music and Drama Bristol Old Vic Central School of Speech and Drama (CSSD) And for Musical Theatre: Guildford School of Acting (GSA) Mountview Arts Ed But you should apply to lots of schools as as I said before, different schools suit different people. All these academies I've mentioned are 18+ but they often prefer you to be older with more "life experiance".
after you go acting school what do you do next and how old do you have to be to go to acting school

You can't really say which school is the best, different schools suit different people. I would only advise to apply to accredited schools though. Do colleges in the uk see Alevel school test transcripts?
just wondering, i mean we havent given our Alevels when we apply for college. And if they do how much do they matter no we dont give the AS and srry i meant *universities*

What is an "Alevel school test transcript"? A level exams aren't administered by schools. They are administered by exam boards. No, UNIVERSITIES in the UK do not care what marks you got on school tests. (If you are applying for colleges in the UK after doing A levels, you are very confused - college is somewhere you _do_ A levels). They will look at your GCSE and AS results. If you've come through another education system, they'll look at the marks you got in that. They will also look at the references your teachers have written for you, and your predicted A level grades - both of which will have been strongly influenced by how you have performed in school tests. Uniersities have a certain number of places available. They will offer those places to the best candidates. If you've done badly in tests at school, and as a result your reference isn't very good and nor are your predicted grades, then chances are there will be too many other people applying who look like better candidates for you to be offered a place. It has nothing to do with whether you are good enough. At the majority of universities, there will be far more "good enough" candidates than places.

Well Here is the thing I have moved from England to America and well basically whilst I have been In America I have been it 2 schools , that means meeting new people and having to make friends twice . It is really hard to make friends like I have I basically know the whole of my grade . The problem is that I am moving back to England and I will have missed a year of my GCSE's so my question really is do you know any online schools that I could attend instead of restarting my life again in a new school?

An American Jewish friend has claimed that the Holocaust has been struck from the curriculum in UK schools.
An American Jewish friend has claimed that the Holocaust has been struck from the curriculum in UK schools.?
It is being claimed that it has been removed as it "offends" the Muslim population who claim it never happened. Is there any truth in this statement? Claims to have originated from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

i dont know about that. it would be sad if true though.
2 :
Your Jewish friend is mistaken. An e-mail circulating said that they banned teaching it but it has been proven to be false. Maybe your friend is a little biased. It took me 5 seconds to google this and find out it wasn't true. He could've done the same.
3 :
I don't think it's true. Your friend probably misheard something.
4 :
Unfortunately, this is true. The UK government is so worried about being politically correct that they took the Holocaust out of the required curriculum.
5 :
Sigh- no, its not true. ONE school in the Uk removed it from its syllabus. Thats it one school out of the thousands in the country. And no- the claims originated from a bogus email that did the rounds on the internet a few months ago and was disproved then.

Please don't let herself become excluded. This would cause difficulties when trying to find a job later in life.
2 :
Excluded? Or Expelled? Excluded means to not take part in something. Like you were excluded from the group of friends. Expelled means being thrown out of school. Even if she could figure out a way to get expelled she is to young to not have to go to school altogether. She would just have to enroll in a different school.
3 :
trust me I'm in secondary school(highs school) and every day I get picked on Ive been self harming for a year and a half I'm on anti depressants and seeing a councilor which both don't work. But hey Im still in hell and working my ass off to get out so when I do I have every opportunity to grab at easy pessie Great job opportunities, Traveling around the world , Speaking languages, getting lots of money doing something I love and most importantly its all because I stuck it out and got my head into the books and got te grades whilst the other losers will be picking up my trash cause they didn't bother their ass's in school to study whilst I'll sit back with a grin on my face looking at them nobodies. :) Best of luck.,

What universities in UK/Ireland recognize the american high school diploma
What universities in UK/Ireland recognize the american high school diploma?
I will hopefully get a high school diploma in USA this year. Which are the other entry requirements for EU students (i live in italy even though i'll have an american high school diploma, not an italian one - can i be considered a EU student anyway?)? Finally, how much do universities cost in UK/Ireland?

I don't know about the U.K. but I do know how the Irish system works: Irish students apply for entry to univerities and colleges through a centalised points-based system. Students from other E.U. member states are accepted on the same basis as Irish students (adjusted for the standards of educational certification in their home country) but, instead of being processed through the centralised system, they have to apply directly to individual colleges or universities. The costs for E.U. students are the same as for Irish students (i.e. funded by the taxpayer, except for some intiial registration fees of up to €1500... although it looks increasingly likely this will change in the very-near future). As for recognition of your American diploma, your best option would be to directly contact whatever university or college you are interested and and ask them. Once you are operating outside the Irish points-system (as you will be, unless you studied in Ireland) then each college or university imposes it's own (broadly-similar, but significantly different in some particular instances) requirements-for-entry on prospective students. Finally, if you are American (and not actually an Italian citizen), your course likely won't be subsidised by the tax-payer and you'll have to pay full fees anyway which, again, vary, depending on the particular course you want to enroll in.

How does the American school year work? Do half terms exist over there?
This video got me wondering (Listen to it and read the comments) http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DNApmyTv1Z8 . In the UK, primary school is for 5-11 year olds, and 11-16 (sometimes 11-18 if there's a sixth form) go to secondary/high school. There are three terms in the year consisting of 10-14 weeks, with a two week holiday (half-term) in the middle of each term.

Draw yourself a picture, on the left a shape say a stick man, centre a pinhole, right a screen. Draw straight lines from points on the shape through the pinhole, see where they hit the screen Simpler? OK , you will need paper, ruler, pen or pencil Draw yourself a picture, on the left a shape say a lollypop. in the centre a point representing the pinhole. On the right a vertical line representing a screen. Draw straight lines from points on the lollypop through the centre point, see where they hit the screen.
2 :
That is true for any lensed camera besides pinhole cameras. It is a property of optics that light rays travel in a straight line seeking the shortest route. In the absence of a lens, said light will pass an aperture from, say, the upper part of the subject to the lower part of the image.

How does an American student apply to university in the UK?

Attending a university in the UK as an American student will cost you about as much as attending an expensive US private college in an expensive city (think Boston, NYC, LA) in the states....but unlike private universities/colleges in the US, UK universities do not offer any financial aid. This will mean you and your family will need to pay one average $35,000 a year for you to attend university in the UK. You also need to take into account exchange rates. The dollar is weaker than the pound but it can fluctuate, meaning one month groceries can cost X amount and the next month they can cost several dollars more. Same goes for rent, plane tickets, clothes, etc. Unless your family is very affluent and has more money then they know what to do with, I would look at universities in the US and consider graduate school in the UK, which would only be for a year (for a master's).

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but many organizations have suspended their programs to England/Scotland/Wales/UK due to a difficulty in getting student visas. That being said, there are options for other exchanges, even English-speaking ones. If you're willing to consider going somewhere other than the UK: If I may, I would like to cast a vote for Youth For Understanding (YFU). I am a 5-time host mom and volunteer with YFU. When I have asked exchange students why they chose YFU, I get the following answers: (1) YFU gave them more bang for their buck and/or (2) someone they knew and trusted recommended YFU. 95% of the fees collected by YFU go for direct program costs (airline tickets, support in hosting country, etc.). YFU has been around for 59 years and has learned how to make exchanges successful. Which ever program you choose, make sure they are listed with the Council for Standards on International Educational Travel (csiet.org). They routinely audit programs for quality. YFU has English-speaking programs to Australia, Ghana, India, and South Africa. In addition, there are a couple dozen other countries that do not require previous language study. You can check this out on the website (yfu-usa.org). Listed below is a link so you can contact former YFU exchange students. If you go to the yfu website (yfuusa.org), you can request additional information. You can also email me. I hope this helped. Good luck to you no matter what you choose!

Where can my friend get black school trousers in size 22? UK.
Where can my friend get black school trousers in size 22? UK?
My curvy friend is having trouble getting school trousers. She's only in year 10, but she can't find some nice black school trousers to fit her. Can anyone suggest any shops/catalogs/websites for the UK where she could get some? Thanks.

You could try e-bay and narrow down the search to items from the UK. Other than Im not too sure [I live in Canada so I dont know any shops from over there lol sorry]
4 :
The shop "Evans" does plus sizes. They're in most UK towns.
5 :
Mark's and Spencer's http://www.marksandspencer.com/gp/search/ref=sr_nr_p_91_7/280-6596121-6955230?ie=UTF8&fil=FIL%3ANarrow%20by%20Size%3A22&rs=42966030&sort=relevancerank&isFromFinder=0&keywords=black%20trousers%2022&mnSBrand=core&me=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&pos=srch%5Flhn%5F22&size=9&rh=n%3A42966030%2Ck%3Ablack%20trousers%2022%2Cp%5F91%3A22&page=1

What is the minimum school leaving age in the UK
What is the minimum school leaving age in the UK?
I'm 15 and currently thinking of applying to major outlets for a start. I know that my chances would in small businesses but I have heard that some take on younger applicants too. I'm coming to the end of my GCSEs, unfortunately I'm not 16 until August

The minimum leaving age, not including special circumstances, is 16, as in at the end of Year 11 when you finish your GCSEs.

Need help from a high school teacher in the UK?
my son is now in year 10 and he picked a subject which he now doesn't want to do, which is geography, he wants to do something in the music industry for a career, but the teacher that takes the class wont let him change to music because there is 28 people in the class, should i call them and tell them to let him do the subject or just leave it. ?

hey!! well im doing geography gcse (im in year 11)...and trust me if you don't like the subject....its going to be hard work. Im having great difficulties with my coursework right now....and i HATE geography if i had the chance i would've changed it but now obviously its too late. anyways if your son is really serious about a music career then if i were you i would go in to the school and have a wrod with head of year 10. If they don't do anything about it then go to the headteacher. You have to be tough to get what you want! its about his future. Also he has missed 1/2 term of music gcse. so he should be willing to catch up in his lunchtime and hometime. other wise he is behind. Tell this to the teacher aswell...that your son will catch up. good luck
3 :
28 people isn't much, so I'm surprised, and don't worry about catching up, i missed over an entire year of gcse and managed to catch up. talk to the head of year.

I'd go with an independent instructor in your area. Big driving schools like BSM and Red make you do a lot of lessons you do not need to make more money.

What is Queenswood School for girls (in the UK) like?
I am considering applying to this school for my daughter. Is it any good? I am asking because prospectuses and ratings cannot always tell you everything. Does the school have a good anti-bullying policy? Are the girls polite etc. Any info would be a great help. Cheers!

These are questions that should be posed to the staff of the school. I would also request the names and contact details of other parents who have children attending the school, I would phone them and ask their opinions.
2 :
The best thing to do would be to read their most recent Ofsted report. If you know what type of school it is and where it is, search for it on Ofsted's website. You can download any report in pdf form. They focus on every aspect of a school. Heavy reading but just the introduction pages should tell you what you need to know.

I lived in London when I studied abroad through the London School of Economics - it was excellent. The best schools in Engand are Oxford and Cambridge - you can study at these schools - if your grades are good enough. I like London best but England is not a very large country and the train system works well so even if you go to school in another city, you can travel to other cities as well. Studying abroad is a great idea, truly one of the most wonderful experiences of my life and I am so grateful for having had the opportunity.

firstly, it's not "school" anymore, it's university!!! we grew outta that stuff, remember? :) firstly, to find the institutions that do your course and to apply, get to: http://www.ucas.com then, once found, you can check how good the unis r (both by subject and overall rating): http://www.timesonline.co.uk/section/0,,716,00.html

Well, I think that you should go with whatever you think looks cool! You are going to new school, so people will talk to you. After all, guys make friends easier in a new school than girls. Don't overdress though, not necessarily the best thing.
